The challenge: reconciling infrastructure configuration data

A multinational telco enterprise needed a way to reconcile configuration data from different enterprise repositories and configuration management databases (CMDBs). They wanted a single view of infrastructure configuration data which was proving challenging with their existing methods. What's more, they required accurate IT dashboards that were fit for both business and finance IT contracts monitoring.

Why did they need reconciled configuration data?

First of all, the customer already dealt with three different repositories which held conflicting infrastructure configuration data. As a result, it was a labor-intensive and manual task to reconcile the configuration data across all three. Simultaneously, it took too long to provide accurate reporting to decision makers. Ultimately, their compliance was at risk due to human error and inaccuracies. Clearly, they wanted to avoid any associated fines or inflated contract prices.

Consequently, they saw that Sweagle's validation rules would automatically identify discrepancies within their configuration data. Plus, the platform would auto-generate any corrections. Then it would alert the team to configuration data changes that were non-compatible with their infrastructure standards. So, if they implemented Sweagle, they would drastically reduce manual work, shorten their response time and maintain an accurate dashboard of all configuration data.

What Sweagle did to reconcile configuration data

Sweagle accurately identified and consumed configuration data from each of the existing repositories. At the same time, the platform collected configuration data from real life virtual machines (VMs) across the infrastructure estate.

In contrast to the customer's manual correction process, Sweagle instantly reconciled a high volume of configuration data. At the same time, it generated a dashboard for error identification. In other words, the customer had instant access to export, interrogate and compare configuration data.
